I enjoy teaching, and I enjoy writing, so I combined the two in writing lecture notes in German and in English.
In addition, I have written a textbook chapter on the mechanisms of carcinogenesis, Maligne Neoplasien, in the German textbook Pathophysiologie. Below is a link to amazon.de for this book:

INFORMAL CV

I was born in Innsbruck, Austria in 1961, but grew up and attendend primary school in the Netherlands. Back in Austria, I completed secondary and high school, then enrolled at the School of Medicine of the Leopold-Franzens-University at Innsbruck in 1980, graduating MD in 1986.

I am married to a physician. We have three children.

I speak German, English, some Dutch and a little Italian.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

1987 – 1992:
Post-doctoral Fellow ("Assistent") at the Department of General and Experimental Pathology, School of Medicine, University of Innsbruck (Chair: Prof. Dr. Georg Wick), from 1988 in the Department of Molecular Biology (Head: Prof. Dr. Reinhard Kofler).

1993:
"Habilitation" as "Dozent" in General and Experimental Pathology. Title of the habilitation thesis: A contribution to understanding the molecular basis of congenital adrenal hyperplasia: novel gene defects of steroid-21- and steroid-11-beta-hydroxylase.

1992 – 1994:
Visiting Scientist at the Department of Pharmacology, University of California, San Diego (UCSD) with Prof. Dr. Michael Karin. Main interest: Oncology.

1995 – 1996:
Residency ("Gegenfach") in Internal Medicine (mandatory for Board certification).

1996:
Board certification in Pathophysiology.

1995 - present:
Associate Professor at the Department of Pathophysiology, School of Medicine, University of Innsbruck. In 2005, Austria separated the medical branches from its Universities and established Medical Universities. Therefore, I am now at the Biocenter, Division of Molecular Pathophysiology, Innsbruck Medical University.
